75 Things to Declutter This Fall

Sharing is caring!

In our home, fall decluttering is essential. After a busy summer, autumn feels like a perfect time to slow down, declutter, and reset our homes.

Let’s be honest, once the weather gets colder, we’re all spending much more time indoors.

Fall is a wonderful season for a gentle home reset. It’s a chance to clear out what no longer fits our current lifestyle, make room for what truly matters, and create a space that feels comfortable and welcoming.

After all, our home is where we recharge, relax, and spend time with the people we love.

When your house is full of things you don’t use, it doesn’t feel very relaxing. All that visible clutter can even make you feel stressed.

In this post, I’m sharing a Fall Decluttering Checklist with 75 things to declutter to prepare your home for winter. This fall decluttering list is broken down room by room so it doesn’t feel like one big, overwhelming project.

You don’t have to do it all in one weekend. Just pick a section, spend a few minutes on it, and enjoy how much more spacious and relaxing your home feels.

Why Fall is the Perfect Time to Declutter Your Home

You’re packing away your summer clothes and bringing out your sweaters. You’re spending more evenings at home and beginning to prepare for the holiday season.

Using these seasonal changes as a reminder to check in with your home not only makes your home easier to manage but can also reduce your stress.

A little fall decluttering can make everyday cleaning faster and organizing easier. It can also help you make room for winter essentials and get your home ready for holiday guests.

Clutter-free rooms can make your home feel cozier and more enjoyable. Try decluttering your home before putting up your winter decorations.

This seasonal decluttering can help you avoid the stress of managing too much stuff when the holidays arrive.

Fall Decluttering Tips

Keep a few things in mind. First, start small. Don’t try to tackle your whole house in one day or one weekend.

Start with one small section: a drawer, a shelf, or even a single corner. That’s good enough to start. Massive decluttering projects can feel overwhelming, and no one wants it.

Spend just 10 minutes a day, and those small wins create momentum. Go easy on yourself. Your home doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to work for your life.

Alright, let’s get into the fall decluttering list.
